Over a course of more than a year, I've been involved in this fascinating project focusing on the pedagogy of composition for young students (around age 10-19). Now the results have been published: Opus 1, a website including a great deal of examples for exercises and methods to be applied in a variety of teaching situations as well as articles discussing the pedagogy of composition is online! My warmest thanks to our stellar team behind this all: Sanna Ahvenjärvi, Marjatta Airola, Marko Alastalo, Minna Leinonen, Tapio Lappalainen and Anu Ahola. Huge thanks for the great articles go to Pasi Lyytikäinen, Heidi Partti and Riikka Talvitie. The awesome layout of the site (which works perfectly on mobile devices as well!) is done by Antti Kangassalo. It has been a pleasure to work with you! The project was established as joint project by Suomen Säveltäjät ry. (Society of Finnish Composers) and Mutes ry (Society of music theory and solfège teachers). Warm thanks also go to Society of Finnish Composers and Suomen Säveltaiteen tukisäätiö for funding this project.
At the moment the website is in Finnish, as it is designed to answer to the needs of Finnish music education system. But who knows what the future has in hold for this marvelous project.
Feel free to check the website here.
